The First Trans Community Center Opens in Arkansas

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Little Rock, Arkansas. December 15, 2021 --

Intransitive, a Transgender organization in Arkansas, will be opening Arkansas’ first Transgender Community Center on Friday, December 17, 2021 in Southwest Little Rock. During this year’s legislative session, Intransitive was the organization pushing the massive digital campaign to mobilize people to oppose the anti-Trans bills in Arkansas. 2021 was the worst year in recent history for legislative attacks on Transgender communities across the country. In April, Arkansas became the first state in the US to ban healthcare access for Transgender youth regardless of parental consent-  a clear constitutional violation.

The 1,750 square foot building owned by Intransitive will become the first Transgender Community Center in the state of Arkansas. The community center will provide advocacy, organizing and education for Transgender Arkansans.

“In the year of the worst anti-Trans legislation in recent history, we declare that Arkansas Can’t Erase Trans People!” said Rumba Yambú, founder and director of Intransitive. “We are here to stay, and we will keep fighting for our rights to ensure Trans people can build a future in Arkansas”.
